Cats and covid-19

What do predatory big cats and the novel Coronavirus have in common?
They choose their victims based on physical conditions:
Age - Generally speaking, the healthier you are and the stronger your immune system, the less likely you are to die from COVID-19 complications—although, there have been exceptions. The coronavirus becomes exponentially more deadly the older an individual is.
Weak - The immunocompromised (i.e. those with cancer, receiving treatment, or survivors; those with diabetes or heart disease) fare worse if infected; those with lung problems such as severe asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, kidney and liver problems, respiratory diseases, and even severe obesity. Nutrition, hydration, sleep, and movement (or lack thereof) also factor in to your risk of becoming critically ill.
Injured - Excessive alcohol consumption can also contribute to difficulties in fighting the infection; vaping and smoking are believed to increase COVID-19 mortality; obesity is also a high-risk factor.
Other - Gender seems to be a factor, as men are statistically more prone to the Coronavirus infection than women; estrogen is assumed to be an insulating mechanism.
Unfortunately, none of the above have much bearing if you are a health care worker, paramedic, firefighter or are in law enforcement. May God bless these who are the front-line workers. We owe them much gratitude.
These observation are my own. I am clear that there are exceptions, but I am also aware of the fact that so far, the majority of COVID-19 victims are old and/or at risk.
It is very important for all of us to take proper precautions like social distancing seriously, and also embrace the necessary steps to empower ourselves with a healthy lifestyle! The healthier you are and the stronger your immune system, the less likely you are to die from COVID-19.
